“Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind or forgotten.”
– Lilo and Stitch
INTRODUCTION
The Ohana Pillow Cover is a beautiful crochet pattern worked with the tapestry crochet technique.
As an introverted and highly sensitive person, my social circle is pretty small. Growing up as a child of immigrants and being an immigrant myself later in life didn’t help expand my social circle either.
Because of this, family and church have been an important part of my life. Even though they are far from perfect, and they’ve caused me a lot of heartache at some point of my life, they are still my comfort zone, the place and people I feel most comfortable around (with the necessary boundaries).
Now that I have a family of my own, making it a safe place both physically and emotionally for my child to grow up in is of paramount importance to me. Of course, I am not perfect, and sometimes the unhealthy generational patterns jump out unexpectedly. But I believe that with conscious effort and prayer this is an achievable goal.
It is my hope that when my daughter grows up and leaves home, she will remember this place as a warm refuge she can always go back to.

PATTERN DETAILS
The Ohana Pillow Cover is an advanced beginner tapestry crochet pattern. The front panel of the cover is the one that carries the design of the word, while the back panel is made up of a solid color.
The pattern comes with a printable version of the graph, which is broken up into three pages. You’ll need to tape the pages together to form the full design before starting the project.
If this is your first time coming across a tapestry crochet project, I have a series of Tapestry Crochet Tutorial that I would suggest you check out before you start this project. The tutorial provides simple patterns for you to practice as well. The type of tapestry crochet that I used for the Double Happiness Pillow Cover is the one that I called Two-Directional Flat Tapestry Crochet.
