Cherish Chinese Pillow Cover – Crochet Pattern

“Cherish every moment with those you love at every stage of your journey.”

– Jack Layton

The Cherish Chinese Pillow Cover is a beautiful crochet pattern worked with the tapestry crochet technique.

Over the past two years, I’ve experienced some difficult moments as I watched people I care about fall ill or pass away unexpectedly. These events caught me off guard and made me realize just how fragile life can be. It’s easy to take things for granted, assuming that we will always have tomorrow to spend time with loved ones or pursue our dreams. But the truth is, none of us knows how much time we have left.

This realization has made me more aware of the things that truly matter in life and has taught me to cherish them more deeply. I’ve learned that it’s important to make the most of every moment, to prioritize the people and experiences that bring us joy, and to find ways to make a positive impact in the world.

One of the things I’ve come to cherish most is the time I spend with my loved ones. Whether it’s a quiet evening at home with my husband and daughter or a lively gathering with friends and family, these moments are precious and irreplaceable. I’ve also learned to cherish my health, both physical and mental, and to take steps to maintain it so that I can enjoy all the other things I cherish in life.

Meaning of the Chinese Characters 珍惜

The Chinese expression 珍惜 (zhēn xī), which translates to English as “to cherish,” are composed of two characters: “珍” (zhēn) and “惜” (xī).

The first character “珍” (zhēn) means precious or valuable, and refers to something that is rare, treasured, or highly valued. The second character “惜” (xī) means to cherish or to value, and conveys a sense of treasuring or holding something dear.

Together, the expression “珍惜” (zhēn xī) convey the meaning of treasuring, cherishing, or valuing something that is precious or valuable. This term is often used to express the idea of appreciating or holding something dear and is commonly used to describe the importance of valuing one’s relationships, experiences, or possessions.

The Cherish Chinese Pillow Cover is an advanced beginner tapestry crochet pattern. The front panel of the cover is the one that carries the design, while the back panel is made up of a solid color.

The pattern comes with a printable version of the graph, which is broken up into three pages. You’ll need to tape the pages together to form the full design before starting the project.

If this is your first time coming across a tapestry crochet project, I have a series of Tapestry Crochet Tutorial that I would suggest you check out before you start this project. The tutorial provides simple patterns for you to practice as well. The type of tapestry crochet that I used for the Double Happiness Pillow Cover is the one that I called Two-Directional Flat Tapestry Crochet.
